RAJA YOGAS IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY.

Kalpa Vruksha / Kalpadruma yoga

Part – 99 (April – 26 – 2009) Sunday Kalpa Vriksha is the celestial tree which grants all wishes. During the Sagar Manthan in which the Devas and Asuras churned the cosmic ocean . Various things with divine powers came out from the Ocean during churning process. They consisted of various people, animals and treasures. They were halahala (poison), Kamadhenu (the wish fulfilling cow), the Ucchaishrava (the white horse), Airavata (the white elephant), Kaustubhamani (a rare diamond), Kalpavriksha (the wish fulfilling tree), Lakshmi (the goddess of wealth), Sura or Varuni (the goddess of wine), and finally Dhanvantari (the divine physician) with the vessel of Amrita in his skilful hands. This is the epic story of Kalpa Vriksha.

Rule :-- In Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra, 36:33, saint-astrologer, Maharshi Parasara mentioned the famous Kalpadruma yoga. (Sanskrit sloka) : Lagnesathadgatarksesatadgatarksesatadani; Kendra, kone, sva-thunge vaa yogaha Kalpadruma matah ! = If all the 4 grahas (1) The lord of birth lagna (ascendant); (2) The dispositor of lagna-lord. (3) The dispositor of the graham (palent) in the second point above. And (4) the navaamsa dispositor of the graham (planet) in the third point above are all situated in quadrants (Kendras) and trines (konas) from the lagna, or be exalted, only then Kalpadruma yoga is formed. Effects : Any person with this yoga will be endowed with all kinds of treasures and wealth, be a king , pious, strong, fond of war and be very merciful = In Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra, saint-astrologer, Maharshi Parasara mentioned the effects of the famous Kalpadruma yoga. (Sanskrit sloka) : Sarva-aiswarya-yutho, bhoopo, dharma-atma, bala-samyukthaah; yuddha-priyo, dayalusaaha; parajitho naro bhavthe . Example : 1 :- H.H. Swamiji Srila Prabhpada. Srila Prabhupada was the most gifted person in the knowledge of Vedanta and Krishna Conciousness. Srila Prabhupada, in just 12 years in his old age, traveled all around the world giving vedantic lectures. His writings have been translated into many languages and are regarded as a great treasure. His writings consist of Vedic philosophy, religion, literature, culture amongst others. His extensive commentary on the Bhagawad Gita is well known. He was the founder of the world famous ISKCON movement, institutions and Sri Krishna temples all over the world.

Kalpa Vruksha yoga is present in the above natal charts. (1) Birth lagna is Sagittarius. Its lord is Jupiter. (2) Guru is in 9^th house (Leo). Sun is the lord of Leo and so is the dispositor of the lagna-lord Jupiter. Sun is in 9^th house (Kona; Sri Lakshmi sthana) (3) Sun is in his own house Leo. So the dispositor of Sun is Sun. (9) In Navamsa chart, Sun is in Virgo. So Mercury is the dispositor of Sun. Mercury is in 10^th house (Kendra; Sri Narayana sthana) from birth lagna in Rasi chart. Thus all the conditions for Kalpa-vruksha yoga applied to these charts. So he enjoyed all these benefits. Even now he rules the hearts and minds of millions of ISKCON followers and his devotees all over the world. He was pious and merciful to all humanity.

Example : 2 Bala Gangadhar Tilak was a mathematician, philosopher and a nationalist. He helped lay the pillars for India's independence. He founded and served as President of the Indian Home Rule League. In 1907, at a All India Congress session, Bal Gangadhar Tilak proclaimed "Swaraj is my birthright and I shall have it". He struggled and sacrificed all his life for his country. He was a great pariot and guide and guruji to Mahatma Gandhi in his freedom struggle for India. He was declared as a traitor by Bitish rulers in India and imprisoned him in Andaman jail. He was harassed by the British tyrants for his great patrioatic spirit and strife for freedom.

(3) Mercury is in his own house Virgo. So the dispositor of Mercury is Mercury. (9) In Navamsa chart, Mercury is in Virgo (exalted) in his own house. So Mercury is the dispositor of Mercury. Mercury is in 4^th house (Kendra; Sri Naryana sthana) from birth lagna in Rasi chart. Thus all the conditions for Kalpa-vruksha yoga applied to these charts. So he enjoyed all these benefits.

Pancha Maha Purusha Yogas (2) :
Following are the five yogas formed by five planets- Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus and Saturn : these make the person Maha-purusha (a great personality). 'Maha' means great and 'purusha' means human being. This is a planetary combination that gives her / him exemplary qualities of that benefic planet.

HAMSA MAHA PURUSHA YOGA When Jupiter (Guru) is in exaltation sign or own sign and is in kendra to lagna or Moon, this Yoga is formed . In this yoga native will have good personality and good moral character. The person shall be religious, and very fortunate. Vividha-sasthra rahasya-vichakshana, sukee, su-jeevana, punya-samanvithaha, savala-vallbha-vandhya, su-charitravaan, bhavathi Deva-guru Hamsa yoga-yuthe (Jataka Marthandam)= The person shall be learned in various arts or sciences, happy, hale and heakthy; he leads a decent and pious life. He does good deeds and earns punyas (virtues). He is praised by all and the rulers (king) og the land. His conduct and character are good. Example :-- 1 Jupiter was in exaltation in cancer, the birth lagna (both Kendra and kona; Sri Narayana sthana; Sri Lakshmi sthana). Bhagavan Sri Ramachandra had all the noble qualties and is ever worshipped as Purushothama. He enjoyed all the benefits of Hamsa yoga. He was highly learned in many arts and sciences and also in warefare. He was Emperor of emperors and sole monarch of the entire Universe as Supreme God and avathaar of Bhagavna Sri Maha Vishnu.

The lord of 4^th house (Kendra) is in 5^th house (konam); he enjoys prosperity and riches. Venus is in Bhagyam (9^th ) from Moon; this is dhana-yogam. Moon and Mars are in mutually 7^th houses is Chandra-Mangla yogs ; he earns billions. Jupiter is in Makaram (Neecha); debilitated. The planet Mars which gets exalted in the sign (Makaram) where Jupiter is is debilitated is in a Kendra (7^th house) from the Indu-lagnam (Moon). So he has Neecha-bhanga-raja-yoga. Moon is debilitated in scorpio. Lord of the sign (scorpio) Mars, occupied by debilitated Moon, is in a Kendra house (7^th ) from Indu-lagnam (the house Moon exists). So this is another Neecha-bhanga-raja-yoga. Jupiter in birth lagnam bestows him raja-yoga all his life, especially during Jupiter’s period Example :-- 5 Dr. Surekha has Hamsa yoga in her natal chart. She was born in U.S.A. Jupiter is in Pisces in his own house. He is in 4^th house (Kendra; Sri Narayana sthana) from birth-lagna (Dhansu; its lord is Jupiter). So she is proficient in surgery. She earned a M.S. degee from a reputed Univeristy in U.S.A. and is practising as a Surgeon in a reputed A grade hospital in U.S.A. She enjoys all the benefits of Hamsa yoga.
