IMPORTANT EVENTS :- 1) When Nanak was a boy of seven, he was sent to school; Gopal Pandha was the teacher there. It was during the main period of Moon and sub-period of Jupiter. Moon was full and exalted and had powerful beneficial aspect (7th drushti) on the 4th house (house of education) and also the planets therein had beneficial aspect (7th drushti) on Moon. Jupiter is the lord of 4th house and he is in 2nd house (speech; learning).
2) The 12th house (Cancer) is Mokshasthana; its lord is Moon; he is full amd exalted and 100% beneficial. Under the influence of ths Moon, the boy contemplated every day for several hours. He had mature spiritual knowledge. During his childhood very often surprised his school-teachers and parents with his queer acts and philosophical utterances and occasional sallies of free thought. They were wonder-struck and embarrassed by his spiritual knowledge. Once his teacher asked Nanak (8 years of age) to read out a book. Nanak replied, "What will it avail to know all and not have a knowledge of God?" Then the teacher wrote the Hindi alphabets for him on a wooden slate. Nanak said to the teacher, "Please tell me, sir, what books have you studied? What is the extent of your knowledge?" His teacher, Gopal Pandha replied, "I know mathematics and the accounts necessary for shop-keeping". Nanak replied, "This knowledge will not in any way help you in obtaining freedom". The teacher was very much astonished at the words of the boy. He told him, "Nanak, tell me something which could help me in the attainment of salvation". Nanak said, "O teacher! Burn worldly love, make its ashes into ink and make the intellect into a fine paper. Now make the love of God your pen, and your heart the writer, and under the instructions of your Guru, write and meditate. Write the Name of the Lord and His praises and write, ‘He has no limit this side or the other’. O teacher! Learn to write this account". The teacher was struck with wonder and awe-inspired. 3) During the period of Moon from his 5th year onwards, he imbibed dhayana (mystic brooding) on spiritual matters. His parents tried to put him into various secular practices but he was more and more absorbed in his spiritual practices. The Moon (lord of moksha sthana) was full and exalted and the strength of almost 100%; this resulted in his spiritual pursuits.
