4) Nanak was married during the main period of Mars and sub-period of Venus during 1985. Mars is in his own house (in Sri Narayana sthana) and is powerfully aspected (7th drushti) by Saturn, the lord of Aquarius, the 7th house (Vivaha sthana). Also Venus is very powerful and is in his own house Libra. Mars is in the 2nd house (family house) from Venus. These caused his marriage during that Mars-Venus period. 5) The house of job / profession is Taurus (10th house) and its lord is Venus. He is in his own house (Libra) and was powerful. Venus is in 2nd house from Jupiter (significator of job). So during the same Mars period and Venus sub-period and Jupiter inner-period, Nanak was appointed in the service of Nawab Daulat Khan Lodi. 6) Due to presence of Venus (female planet), in the 3rd house (Bhaarthru-sthana), Nanak had a sister, called Nanaki; she was his only sister. She had utmost love and affection to Nanak. She was married to Jai Ram. Both wife and husband treated Nanak with respect. 7) During Rahu dasa and Rahu vidasa Nanak abandoned his job and became an ascetic for all practical purposes. Rahu was in the constellation of Venus in 5th house. Venus was the lord of 10th house (Taurus; Karma-sthana). He spent most of his time in spiritual pursuits. Nanak gave up his service and distributed his goods amongst the poor. He lived in the jungles and put on the garb of a Fakir. He practised severe austerities and intense meditation. He sang inspired songs. These are all collected and preserved in the Adi Granth — the sacred book of the Sikhs. 8) Nanak had two sons during Rahu period named Srichand (born in 1494 A.D.) and Lakshmichand (born in 1497 A.D). Srichand renounced the world and founded a sect of ascetics called Udasis. The Udasis grew long beards and long hair. The application of razor to any part of the body was strictly prohibited. Lakshmichand became a man of the world. He married and had two sons. Nanak also wore long beard and hair and wore a turban.
