Hearty Greetings

Hearty Greetings to ALL ! Today I leave for a trip and be back by Monday-31-2010. So I shall start writing blogs from May--31---2010 (IF POSSIBLE). Best Wishes; Prof. Ramana Rao, Ph.D., Astrologer-Scientist. Durham

HOROSCOPE ANALYSIS OF PANDIT JAWAHARLAL NEHRU.

Introduction : May—27, today is the Vardhanti (death day anniversary) of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehruji was the first Prime Minister of India (1947—64). Moon is in his own house in birth lagna (ascendant); Cancer; he is royal & has strong personality& diplomacy; he has lot of receptivity, compassion, flexibility or adjustability and has ability to understand others problems and feelings. He is a visionary and loved India ardently; he is, in fact, the architect of modern India. Some of his political policies might be totally wrong like his handling Kashmir issue and harmed the interests of India permanently. But he is the real Bharath Ratna; and an illustrious son of India. He was a true patriot and I admire him.

He is a real pandit (a very great scholar); his books like “Glimpses of World History and Discovery of India” and other collected works reflect his erudition, wisdom and knowledge. I studied them in my teen-age. I was inspired by his writings. I admire his multi-faceted personality and genius, in spite his many shortcomings. When we examine carefully the later persons who succeeded Nehru and ruled India during the past 62 years, I believe Nehruji was the best person with many noble qualities of head and heart.

For about 3 decades, Nehru dedicated his life for independence struggle; he was one of the key-persons in that freedom-fight. He spent several years in various prisons in India. He underwent severe troubles; later his tenure as Prime Minister of India was not a carpet of roses; he always had mental tensions due to Pakistan’s aggressions, and Chinese’s aggression on India and international unrest due to cold-war problems. He suffered severe mental agony due to Chinese betrayal of Pancha-seela principles laid down for world-peace and their cruel aggression on India. India was totally defeated in that war (during 1962); but saved by the timely intervention of J.F. Kennedy, the then President of U.S.A. He stopped the war and restored peace. Pandit Nehruji finally had brain hemorrhage in Simla and died.

Opinions of ancient expert saint-astrologers :-

Now I explain the effect of Sun in 5th house (Sri Maha Lakshmi sthana) = Lagna panchame Surya-phalam. 5th house is a highly beneficial house. It pertains to progeny (children), inclinations, pleasure, artistic talent, recreation, amusement, sports, romance, competitive activities like cards, crosswords, lottery, gambling or betting, love affairs, ambassadors, good or bad morals, mantra-tantra, religious mindedness, high learning and wisdom, intelligence, enormous riches, spiritual practice etc. Sun is adored as a God; but in vedic astrology he is deemed to be a malefic planet.
Effects : Views of renowned astrologers : 1) Saint-Astrologer Maharshi Parasara (Great grand-father of Pandavas and Kauravas of Mahabharatha epic; father of Maharshi Veda Vyasa) wrote : (sloka = Sanskrit verse) :- PUTHRA-BHAAVAE BHASKARAE, BAALYA-DUHKHA, NA-BHAVATHI DHANA-BHOGI, YAUVANAECHA AARTHI-YUKTHAA, JANAYATHI SUTHAM EAKAM, SVA-ARJITHA DHANA-BHOGI, CHAPALA, KATHINA-CHITHAHA, KROORA KARMAHA, KUCHELA = IF SURYA (SUN) STAYS IN 5TH BHAAVAM (HOUSE), THE PERSON SUFFERS MISERY & TOUBLES IN CHILDHOOD; HE ENJOYS MEAGER COMFORTS IN ALL HIS LIFE; HE SUFFERS WANT-OF-MONEY; HE SUFFERS TROUBLES, MISERY & ANTAGONISTIC CONDITIONS IN HIS YOUTH; HE SHALL HAVE ONLY ONE SON; HE ENJOYS HIS HARD-EARNED MONEY ONLY; HE IS FICKLE-MINDED & UNSTABLE; HIS NATURE IS ROAK-HARD & HAS NO COMPASSION / CONSIDERATION; HE INDULGES IN CRUEL ACTIVITES OR TRADE; HE WEARS DIRTY & SOILED CLOTHES; HIS LIFE IS MISERABLE.

2) Bhrigu Sutras- by saint-astrologer Maharishi Bhrigu (3500 BC):-- Suthra (51) :- Nirdhanaha; sthoola-dehi; sapthame varshe pithru-arishtavaan; Suthra (52) :- Medhavee, alpa-puthraha; budhimaan; Suthra (53) :- Bhava-adhipe bala-yuthe, putha-siddhihi; Suthra (54) :- Rahu, Ketu yuthe, sarpa-saapath, puthra-kshayaha; Suthra (55) :- Kuja-yuthe sathru-moolath sutha-nashanam; Suthra (56): Subha-graha (Guru; Sukra) -yuthe, veekshithe, na-doshaha; Suthra (57) :- Surya shar bhadhishu, Surya-bhakthaha; Suthra (58) :- Surya bala-yuthe, puthra samrudhi = If the Sun is in the fifth house, the native will be poor, of bulky body and in his seventh year his father will face death, serious illness or misfortune. The native will be wise and brilliant but will have few children. If the lord of the 5th is well placed and strong there will be no death of sons. If the Sun is associated with Rahu or Ketu, there will be loss of children due to curse of the Serpent God. If the Sun is in conjunction with Mars, there will be loss of children due to enemy but there will be no such loss if the combination of the Sun and Rahu or the Sun and Ketu or the Sun and Mars is aspected by a benefic (Jupiter or Venus). When the Sun is in the fifth house the native will become a devotee of the Sun God. If the Sun is strong the children will be prosperous.
Explanation :- The 5th is 9th to 9th house and is therefore treated as a house of fortune (Bhagya) also. The view of Maharshi Bhrigu seems to be that the Sun as a malefic afflicts the 5th house and therefore the native remains devoid of wealth. While we agree with this view, we also hold the view that the native will have good fortune if the Sun becomes a functional benefic on account of lordship of an auspicious house. The Sun is a functional benefic, (a) For Taurus Ascendant when as lord of the 4th in 5th , (6) Leo Ascendant when as lord of the Ascendant, he will be in the 5th, (c) for Libra Ascendant when he will be lord of 11th in the 5th , (d) for Scorpio Ascendant when as lord of the 10th he will be in the 5th and (e) for Sagittarius Ascendant when as lord of the 9th he will be in the 5th in Aries, his sign of exaltation. In these cases the Sun in 5th will make the native wealthy, learned, respected and very intelligent. There is no doubt that affliction of the Sun by Rahu, Ketu or Mars in the 5th house will cause loss of children unless there is a powerful influence of a benefic on the 5th house. The adverse results may also not occur if the lord of the 5th and Jupiter (significator of children) are well placed and have benefic influence on them. It is said that if the Sun is strong in the fifth, the sons will be prosperous. This will happen only when the Sun is in his own sign Leo or when the Sun is in Aries his sign of exaltation. When the Sun is posited in these signs, the native will not only be well off himself, he will be blessed with healthy and prosperous children who will be a source of happiness to him.
3) Brihath Jataka by Varhamihira (325 AC) :-- The person concerned will be childless and with out wealth.
4) Phala-deepika by Manthreswara :-- The native will be bereft of happiness, wealth and children. He will also be short lived. He will be intelligent and wise and will be fond of wandering in the jungles.
5) Saravali by Maha-Raja Kalyana Varma (10th century A.C; king of Vyaghrapaada kingdom) :-- The native will be unhappy, poor, without children, agriculturist, resident of mountain-regions, wise, without bodily strength and short lived.
6) Chamatkara Chintamani by Narayana Bhatt (5th century AC) :-- The native will lose his eldest son. He will be very intelligent and will influence others by his superior knowledge. He will accumulate wealth. He may die due to some stomach ailment.
7) Jataka Kalanidhi : NIRDHANAHA, SVALPA-PUTHRAHA, DEVATHA-ANUGRAHANA-PUTHRA-PRAAPTHI, HRUDROGI, PITHRA-ARISHTAM, BRUHATHKUKSHI, KARMA-VIGHNHA = When the Sun is in 5th house, the person shall have poverty, less number of sons, children born out of grace of God, heart-disease, harm to father, big-belly, and he / shall cause hurdles in others efforts / works.

My views :- The views expressed in the above rneowned astrologers tally in essence with those expressed in Bhrigu Sutras. As we have already stated in our detailed comments above, the adverse results such as loss of children etc. with the Sun in the 5th will be experienced with ascendants other than Aries, Taurus, Leo, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius. Of course adverse results may be expected in the case of all the ascendants when the Sun, the fifth house, lord of the 5th and Jupiter are under malefic influence. The accumulation of wealth as mentioned in Chamatkara Chintamani will happen only when the Sun in the 5th is a functional benefic. This work also says that native will. die from a stomach ailment. The reasoning behind this statement is that the 5th house represents amongst other things the stomach also. The affliction of the 5th house by the Sun will cause stomach ailments.

HOROSCOPE ANALYSIS OF PANDIT JAWAHARLAL NEHRU.--Part-3

HOROSCOPE ANALYSIS OF PANDIT JAWAHARLAL NEHRU

3) Brihath Jataka by Varhamihira (325 AC) :-- The person concerned will be mute, insane, stupid, blind, base or mean, deaf or servile (this does not apply to birth with Moon in Aries, Taurus or Cancer). If the Moon should occupy her own house identical with the Ascendant, the person will be rich. If Aries takes the place of Cancer, the person concerned will have many children. If Taurus be the ascendant, the person will be wealthy.
4) Phala-deepika by Manthreswara :-- If the Moon of the bright half of the lunar month (Sukla Paksha) is in the ascendant, the native will be fearless, of strong body, wealthy and long lived. Quite opposite will be the results if the Moon is of dark half of the lunar month.
5) Saravali by Maha-Raja Kalyana Varma (10th century A.C; king of Vyaghrapaada kingdom) :-- If the Moon is in Aries, Taurus or Cancer in the ascendant or if the full Moon is posited in other ascendants, the native will head in handsomeness, generosity, good qualities, wealth and enjoyment.
A waning Moon in the ascendant will make the nativean, deaf, mute and perturbed.
6) Chamatkara Chintamani by Narayana Bhatt (5th century AC) :-- If the Moon be in Aries, Taurus and Cancer in the ascendant, the person concerned will be rich, lustrous and will enjoy all kinds of comforts. If Moon be in Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces in the ascendant, the native will be poor, weak bodied, stupid and deaf.
7) Jataka Kalanidhi : When Moon is in lagnam (birth house = ASD) = KUROOPAVAAN, VYADHI-PIDITHAVAAN, JALODARAA, VAATHA-PRAKRUTHI-ROGI, KRUSHI-PHALAM,KARNA-GRANDHI-ROGI, SASTHRAVAAN, SAHODARAVAAN, UNMATHAHAA, ATHI-MOORKHAVAAN-BHAVATHI. = The person will be ugly, disease-suffering, water- in-belly, vatha-nature of body, gets success in agriculture, sufferer of ear-drum-disease, scholar of sciences, having brothers, mental-deranged, and a stupid.

My views :- The malefic effects of the Moon given by Brikat Jataka apply to a weak or waning Moon. In Aries, Taurus and Cancer the Moon has been held very beneficial. The effects given by Saravali are quite logical. As regards the views of Chamatkar Chintamani, we feel that Moon in Pisces, Scorpio and Libra in the ascendant will also give good results as such a Moon will be in the ascendant as lord of the 5th, the 9th and the 10th respectively. 2) Cancer signifies the subconscious memory of the past; so Nehru often carried the responsibility of the whole Indian race on his shoulders. Since Cancer is his lagna, he has become discrete and independent in many thoughts and actions. He had adaptability to circumstances and people he is in. Due to his extreme sensitivity, he imbibed the quality of nervous irritability. This was a concomitant of lunar and fluidic nature. 3) Sun : Sun is in 5th house (kona, Sri Lakshmi sthana) in Rasi chart. It is in Scorpio. Scorpio is a malefic sign. It is an insect sign. It suggests the native is sometimes a person of strange contradictions. The presence of a malefic planet , Sun in 5th house (house of children) in the Rasi chart gave him only one daughter. In the Nava Amsa also the 5th house from Moon was Aries and a malefic planet Mars was in it. He had n sons. Ms.Indira was his only daughter; she had all the noble qualities of head and heart. She was independent and firm in her convictions; she was a lady of iron-will. Later she ruled India (1967—84) as the Prime Minister of India.

HOROSCOPE ANALYSIS OF PANDIT JAWAHARLAL NEHRU.--Part-2

Special Features of Nehruji’s, (great scholar-leader’s) horoscope :-

(1) Moon is in birth lagna, Cancer, in his own house. Moon has no aspects (drushtis) by any malefic or benefic planet. Karkatake Chandrasthe, poorna yogadaha = Moon and his period are very beneficial to him. But Moon is hemmed between to malefics, Rahu in 12th house and Saturn in 2nd house. So in this chart Cancer is both birth-lagna and Chandra / Rasi lagna. This is an important and strong feature of this Rasi chart; it formed a strong foundation of the horoscope. If birth lagna is in cancer gravity and shyness are both indicated in the person. He had strikingly handsome figure, and a complexion with a Tejas (full-Moon-shine like) in his face; it reminded me that he was a saint, when I saw him face to face. He had a noble and cultivated expression. All these are due to Moon positioned in birth lagna, in his own house in cancer. Moon is a planet of imagination and imagination; it is free from any afflications like association with and or aspect (drushti) by malefic planets. This denotes his sympathy towards the suffering humanity and a highly emotional nature, -----------------------

Opinions of ancient expert saint-astrologers :-

Now I describe the effect of Moon (Sasi) in first bhaava (birth-lagna) . Lagne Sasi phalam First House (or Lagna-Ascendant) denotes the native’s physical stature, colour, form and shape, constitution, health, vitality and vigour, natural dispositions and tendencies, personality and struggle for life, honour, dignity, prosperity, general well being, head, upper part of the face, virtues, longevity, start in life and an idea about the general structure of life.
Effects : Views of renowned astrologers : 1) Saint-Astrologer Maharshi Parasara (Great grand-father of Pandavas and Kauravas of Mahabharatha epic; father of Maharshi Veda Vyasa) wrote : (sloka = Sanskrit

DAAKSHINYA, SU-ROOPA, DHANA, BHOGA, SUGUNA, AISWARYA, VARENYA, CHANRAE, KULEERA, VRUSHABHAJA GATHAE VILAGNAI, UNMATHA, NEECHA, BADHIRO, VIKLO, ATHA MUKAHA, SESHUVAA BHAVATHI HINA THANUR VISHESHAATH = IF MESHAM (ARIES) OR VRUSHABHA (TAURUS) OR KARKAATAKM (CANCER) IS THE BIRTH LAGNAM & MOON (WAXING) IS IN ANY OF THE ABOVE HOUSES, THE PERSON IS GENEROUS, KIND & HELPFUL; HANDSOME / BEAUTIFUL RICH, PROSPEROUS; HE HAS NOBLE QUALITIES & LIVES A LUXURIOUS LIFE. IF MOON IS NEW / WANING & IS IN ANY OTHER BIRTH HOUSE, HE/SHE MAY BE MENTALLY-DERAILED, CRUEL, MEAN-MINDED, SINNER, CRIMINAL OR MAY BE DEAF, DUMB OR BLIND OR PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED PERSON; WITH FRAIL & WEAK BODY. IF MOON IS FULL / WAXING / STRONG, & IS IN THE BIRTH HOUSE, THE PERSON IS HANDSOME, STRONG & STURDY, NOBLE HEARTED, EXCELLENT BEHAVED, WELL-EDUCATED, CULTURED & MAY SUFFER DUE TO VAATHA DISEASES (LIKE PARALYSIS).

2) Bhrigu Sutras- by saint-astrologer Maharishi Bhrigu (3500 BC):-- Suthra (1) :- Roopa, laavanya yukthscha, chapalaha, vyadheena, jalaascha-soukhyaha; Suthra (2) :- pancha-dasa-varshe, bahu-yaathravaan; Suthra (3) :- Mesha, Vrushabha, Karka lagne Chandre, sasthra-paraha; Suthra (4) :- dhanee, sukhee, nrupaalaha, mrudu-vaak, budhiheena, mrudu-gaathraha; balee; Suthra (5) :- Subha-yuthe, drushte balavaan; Suthra (6):- budhimaan, aarogyavaan; vaak-jaalakaha; dhanee; Suthra (7):- Lagna-adhipe bala-rahithe, vyaadhimaan; Suthra (8) :- subha-graha yuthe, drushte; aarogyamaan = If the Moon is in the first house (ascendant), the native will be very handsome looking but unsteady mentally. He will suffer from bodily troubles and will be happy at watery places. He will perform many travels in his 15th year. If the Moon in the Ascendant is in Aries, Taurus or Cancer, the native will be well versed in shastras (Hindu religious scriptures), wealthy, happy and soft spoken. He will have soft skin and strong build but he will not be intelligent. If the Moon is aspected by benefics, the native will be powerful, wise, intelligent, healthy, clever conversationalist and wealthy. If the lord of the ascendant is weak, the native will suffer from ill health. If he is aspected by a benefic the health will be good.
Explanation :- Moon symbolises beauty. Her placement in the ascendant makes the native very handsome in appearance. Moon is always waning and waxing and represents mind (manasa-kaaraka). The mind of the native will therefore be unsteady. Moon is a watery planet. The native will therefore like watery places. When the Moon is in Aries in the ascendant, she will be lord of the 4th in the 1st. When she is in Taurus she will be exalted as lord of the 3rd in the 1st. When the Moon is in Cancer she will be in her own sign, in the Ascendant. The effects of these dispositions given are that the native will be versed in shastras, wealthy, happy, a king. He will be soft spoken, will be of strong body but not intelligent. We agree with the author in as far as position of Moon with Aries and Cancer as ascendants but we are not sure that the same will be the case with Taurus as ascendant. The View of Bhavaartha Ratnakar in this respect is as under: Vrushabhe sayamasya lagne Chandra-sthitau, visesha dhaha yogenu na praapnothi jatakaha = That is, the Moon in Taurus as ascendant is not particularly good for giving wealth. We also feel that the Moon should be waxing (or full Moon) to give the good results in full. We also feel that Moon in Scorpio, Libra and Pisces in the Ascendant will also be good because she will be in the ascendant as lord of the 9th, the 10th and the 5th respectively. The reason for the native not being intelligent may be due to the instability of native's mind. If the Moon is aspected by a benefic the native will be powerful, intelligent, wealthy etc. Very good results will accrue when Jupiter is in seventh to Moon (this disposition will give rise to Gajkesari yoga-a very beneficial yoga conferring wealth, name and fame upon the native). For a planet to give good results it is very necessary for the lord of the sign in which it is posited, to be strong and well placed. It is for this reason it is said that if the lord of the ascendant is weak the native will suffer from ill health. He will be quite healthy if the lord of the ascendant gets benefic aspect.

HOROSCOPE ANALYSIS OF PANDIT JAWAHARLAL NEHRU.

Introduction : May—27 is the Vardhanti (death day anniversary) of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. So I plan to publish a detailed horoscope analysis of Nehruji in 14 parts, starting from tomorrow; May—24—2010. Nehruji was the first Prime Minister of India (1947—64). Maha Raja yogas in his horoscope :- :-- Any Raja-yoga (beneficial yoga), like the conjunction of lords of 9th and 10thhouses, or Gaja-Kesari yoga can be enjoyed by the person, only when any one of these yoga-karaka dasas (beneficial periods) occurs in the prime of his / her life (say between 18 & 65 years), the person can enjoy the raja-yogam fully. If the yoga-karaka dasa (period) occurs in childhood (before 15 years or in old age (after 65 years), the person can not enjoy fully the benefits of raja-yoga. Also the birth lagna and its lord must be strong. Also the planets involved in yogam must be well-disposed, strong and devoid of malefic effects like dagdha (combusted), neecha (debilitated) or in malefic houses like 3,6,8, and / or 12; they should not be conjunct with or (seen) aspected (drushti) by any malefic planet. Then only the Raja-yogam can give beneficial results. Otherwise, the yoga is present but is spoiled and wasted. I noticed in my experience of 48 years as an astrology-practitioner, that in 98% of the horoscopes some four to nine different types of Raja-yogas are present; they are weak or ruined by other malefic effects.

BHAGAVAN ADI SANKARA ACHARYA OF KALADI; Part-9

BHAGAVAN ADI SANKARA ACHARYA OF KALADI

Sri Sankara Jayanthi comes every year on Vaisajha Suddha Panchami day; this year it comes on May—19—2010. On this occasion I publish his horoscope analysis in 9 parts.

Important events in Sankaracharya’s life : (1) Sankara lost his father when he was of 6 years. This occurred in his Rahu period and Mercury sub-period. Rahu the lord of main period is in 2nd house (maaraka-sthana) from the Sun (indicator of father; pithru-kaaraka). Mercury is the lord of sub-period and owns the 7th house (Virgo) from the 9th house (Pisces), the pithru-sthana (house of father). Also Mercury is in 2nd house, Aires (maaraka-sthana; death-causing house) from Pisces, the 9th house (pithru-sthana). Rahu and Mercury are dwir-dwadasa (2nd house to 12th house).

2) Sankara’s mother got his Upanayanam (initiation to education) in the same year; she sent him to gurkul school for education. This occurred in the same Rahu period and Mercury sub-period under the same directional (drik-prabhaava) influence of Rahu and Mercury. Mercury aspects (7th drushti) the 4th house (Libra) Vidya-sthana (house of education) and ensured he is initiated to education.

3) Sankara was a prodigy; and he got everything by heart and deep into his memory when he heard any topic once only. So competed mastering all the four Vedas and all other scriptures just in thirty lunar months. Generally an intelligent person takes thirty years to learn them all. He completed all his learning during the sub-period of Venus (main-period of Rahu). Rahu is in Taurus (lord is Venus); so Rahu gives the results of Venus. Venus is also the lord of 4th house (Libra), the house of education. Venus is conjunct with Mercury, the bestower of intellect. So Sankara reaches a stage of a teacher (Professor, Acharya) in all branches of learning capable of conferring learning and education. Sankara is declared as a very proficient Acharya soon by all his gurus (teachers) when he was nine years of age. 4) Rahu is in Taurus (the constellation of Moon) and in 12th house from Moon (Rasi-lagna). Ketu is moksha (salvation) / renunciation karaka (significator). Moon is in 12th house (house of renunciation) from the birth-lagna (cancer). Ketu aspects (7th drushti) Taurus (12th house from Rasi / Chandra lagna) and Rahu therein. Ketu occupies Scorpio, the constellation of Saturn. Saturn in turn aspects (7th drushti) the Moon and the 12th house (Gemini) from birth-lagna. All these factors help Sankara to obtain Sanyasa-deeksha (initiation to asceticism) during the fag end of Ketu sub-period in Rahu period.

The chronological order of events in the life of Sankara are not known clearly. 5) So one can assume that Sankara completed his training in advanced philosophy under the guidance of famous and widely revered (Guruji) Govinda Bhagavadpada (who stayed in his ashram on the banks of river Narmada) before Sankara competed his Rahu main period (before his 15 years of age). Rahu is in Taurus (lord is Venus); so Rahu goves the results of Venus , lord of (Libra) the 4th house (house of education). So all his education and training are completed by the end of Rahu period and Govinda Bhagavadpaada initiated Sankara to the Parama-hamsa (Super sanyasi) order.

6) The main period of Jupiter is a very significant, fruitful and successful period in the life of Sankara Acharya. (i) Jupiter is Jnana-kaataka ( bestower of knowledge and wisdom) and is the lord of Pisces, the 9th house {(dharma-sthana and trikona (trines)}. So he is beneficial (with adhpatya-bala). (ii) Jupiter also aspects (5th drushti) the lagna-lord and the Rasi (Moon; significator of mind) lagna. (iii) Jupiter also aspects (7th drushti) the 2nd house (Leo) vaak-sthana (house of speech). (iv) Jupiter also aspects (9th drushti) the 4th house (Libra), house of acquisitions and properties, in this case, intellectual and philosophical acquisitions. (v) Jupiter occupies a constellation of Mars in Sagittarius. Mars is top-rate yoga-kaaraka and is in Pisces, 9th house (dharma-sthana) owned by Jupiter. All the benefits of yoga-kaaraka (highly beneficial) Mars have showered profuse benefits and blessings on Sankara during the main period of Jupiter. 7) During the main period of Jupiter, and during the sub-periods of Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury (7 years period), Sankara stayed in an ashram on the banks of river Ganga in Varanasi. He visited daily Bhagavan Visweswara and Bhagavthi Annapoorna temples and did abhishekams and poojas to the deities. During that period he wrote commentaries on all the principal Upanishads, the Bhagad-Gita and the Brahma Suthras in Sanskrit verses (slokas). Occasionally, he visited Badarinath.

8) During the same period and under the planetary influence of Jupiter, Mars. Saturn and Mercury, Sankara met and had animated discussions with some of the most famous and learned scholars of his time. It is alleged that even Bhagavan Veda Vyasa (he is chiranjeevi like Bhagavan Hanuman), reputed author of Brahma Suthras, once visited Sankara’s ashram abode in Varanasi as a pretty old man on one occasion. Vyasa Bhagavan spent a few days at his ashram as a guest and entered into a disputation with Sankara for a few days. Finally he blessed Sankara and left satisfied and happy.

9) During the 3 years period of Venus sub-period during the main-period of Jupiter, Sankar-acharya toured the entire country. He is doing ascetic rodes, but he enjoyed all the paraphernalia of royalty during this tour period. The kings and emperors of various kingdoms worshiped Sankara as an embodiment of Bhagavan Siva and provided him as their devotional offering all this paraphernalia, without his asking, in recognition of his learning and authority. All these beneficial results of royal pomp and grandeur are the blessings of Jupiter (occupying the constellation of yoga-kaaraka Mars).

10) During the main period of Jupiter and during the sub-period of Mars Sankara’s mother died, This is the most pathetic event of his life. Mars aspects (4th drushti) Moon (mathru-kaaraka; significator of mother) and also the mathru-sthana (Libra; the house of mother), the 4th house (8th drushti). Jupiter (the lord of main period) occupies the constellation of Mars. All these malefic effects caused her death during Mars sub-period.

11) Sankara reaches 32 years of age. Saturn main period and sub-period of Saturn starts. Then Sankara attained Nirvana / Moksha (salvation) voluntarily. He did not use his divine powers to stop his death. Saturn is the lord of 7th house (Capricorn), a maaraka-sthana (death causing house) from birth-lagna, He occupies the 7th house from Rasi-lagna (Moon). So he is a powerful maraaka and caused his death. Actually it is said Sri Sankara took leave of his disciples saying that he is going to relinquish his life soon and walked onto open Himalaya mountains and disappeared. His body was never found. So some of his devotees tell he walked direct to Kailasa (the abode of Bhagavan Siva) and got united with Parameswara.

Adi Sankara has Parivrajaka yoga (Ascetic): Rule :- Ekaraasi sthithaithu chathradhibhi birbalyuthair jahaah, pruthaghviryagauh shakya ajeevika bhikshu vurdha chakra nirgandha vanaysanaha; mahye jnaya guru kshapakara sita prabhankareenau kramaath balibhi samah; parijithai sthastha swamibhihi prachyuthaihi= When there are four or more planets in one house, the person born may become an ascetic (sanyasi) of one of these types; Sakya, Aajivaka, Bhikshu, Vridha, Chakra, Nigandha or Vanayasana, when Mahaya, Gnya, Guru, Kshapakara, Sita, Prabandhakari, or Ina are powerful respectively. The parivrajaka yogas are determined by the most powerful planets. When these planets have suffered a defeat, the person will renounce the Parivraja (ascetic life) afterwards.

The following strong planets in conjunction can produce the varieties of Parivrajaka yoga:

1) Powerful Mars : Sankhya : one who wears red-clothes. (2) Powerful Mercury : Aajivika – one who bears eakadanda or single staff (about 5 to 6 feet). (3) Powerful Jupiter : Bikshu : one who wears kaashaya or saffron colured (yellowish-rose) garments. (4) Powerful Moon : Kapaalika : one who moves about with a skull in his hand and practices occult tanthric yogas. (5) Powerful Venus : Chakra – one who carried a chakra (wheal) or ring. (6) Powerful Saturn : Nirgrantha : one who moves in nude form. Powerful Sun : Vanyasana : one who lives on roots, herbs, bulbs available in forests.

Adi Sankra has three poerful planets Sun, Mercury and Venus in his 10th house. He is not an ordinary Sanyasi. He is a Maha Jnaani (with perfect divine wisdom and spiritual realization) and an incarnation of Bhagavan Sankara. He was a special super-class Sanyasi by himself; he was a Bikshu in villages, he was a Vanyasana in forests; he wore saffron clothes and a staff with a saffron-flag indicating that he is ready for a fierce argument on philosophy and religion) with any scholar who refuses / resists to surrender to Adi Sankara and become his disciple (Sishya).

My own Belief :- I am a devotee of Adi Sankaracharya and believe him to be a direct avatar (incarnation of Bhagavan Sri Sankara), just as Bhagavan Vamana (Emperor Bali’s liberator) was the direct incarnation (avatar) of Bhagavan Sri Maha Vishnu. These enabled his monumental work of about 15 years has so profoundly influenced the religious, philosophical intellectual and cultural thoughts of millions of enlightened people all over the world during the past twenty centuries. He revived Hindusim from the onslaught of Buddhist monks and scholars. His horoscope has some unique features. They are :

(1) Lagna (Cancer) lord Moon is in the Moksha-sthana (12th house; ripha) and is aspected both by the lord of 7th house (Capricorn), Saturn (7th drushti) and by the lord of 9th house (Pisces), Jupiter (5th drushti). The mal-effects caused by the aspects of malefics Mars and Saturn on Moon is neutralized by the highly beneficial aspect of Jupiter on Moon.

(2) Sun (Atma-kaaraka; Soul indicator) is exalted in 10th house (Karma-sthana; profession-indicator) and is conjunct with Mercury (Budhi-kaaraka; indicator of intelligence) and Venus (lord of 4th house) (house of acquisitions, here divine knowledge and wisdom). (3) The 4th house, Libra (Kendra; Sri Narayana sthana) has combined aspect of five planets; Sun, Mercury and Venus (7th drushti), Mars (8th druhsti) and Jupiter (9th drushti).

(4) Saturn (indicator of philosophy) is in Sagittarius (house of Jupiter). Jupiter is Jnana-kaaraka and is also the lord of 9th house (Pisces; Sri Maha Lakshmi sthana),the dharma-sthana. This resulted in Sankara’s unflinching logic made him the supra-rational and led him to Victory in every religious argument he had with eminent scholars and masters of different faiths. He is the Saint of saints. He lived with radiant joy. (concluded)
