Every person fondly cherishes the birth of children, bringing them up with love and care and playing with them, forgetting all worldly tensions. Birth of children maintains the continuity of family and the society. The Hindus attach utmost importance to the birth of a male child. It is believed that the son would keep the continuity of family name and gothra and memory of the father and forefathers alive after one's heavenly ascent besides performing the last rites. There is a famous saying in Sanskrit ‘APUTHRASYA GATHIR NAASTHI = If a son is not born the parents do not have heavenly joys after death; they stay forever in a hell called Punnaama. That is why the delay or denial of progeny causes great mental agony to many people not only in India. All over the world the people earn for children soon after marriage. Some persons having only daughters, adopt a son only with a desire to have support in old age and for heavenly joys after death. No doubt, in this age of family planning, people in some countries adhere to small family norms, yet the involuntary delay in the birth of a child in the early years of married life becomes intolerable for them. I shall now explain the reasons for delay and denial of progeny on the basis of the person's horoscope.
SIGNIFICATORS FOR PROGENY
1. The lords of the fifth and/or second house containing a mooltrikona sign are the important kaarkas (significators) for progeny. Jupiter and the Sun are the primary significators for a person born in Aquarius birth-lagna.
2. Jupiter and the Sun are, in general, significators for progeny.
3. The lord of the ascendant of sapthamsa containing a mooltrikona sign is also an important significator for progeny.
4. The fifth and second houses, their lords, the planets therein, the drushtis (aspecting) on those houses also have to be examined to assess the progeny aspect..
It is important that the second house, its lord and Jupiter are to be strong or well-placed and unafflicted to ensure birth of a male child.
The delay and denial are caused due to the weakness and/or affliction of the kaarkas (significators) of progeny explained above. The malefic effects that cause delays can be treated with performance of suitable astrological remedial measures.
