1. YIDHAM DWADASA BHAAVANAAM SAMANYA PHALAMEERITHAM, GOPALA DAIVAJNAE NEADAM GOPALASTHEANA THUSHYATHU =

We shall present in this blog the contents of the sacred book Gopala Ratnaakaram, written in Sanskrit, by the great sage-cum-astrologer Sri Gopala Daivajna of 3^rd century; we illustrate each Rule therein with suitable examples. We shall narrate the effects of the nine planets in 12 houses of the birth-chart and how these 12 bhaavas affect the life of a person. We dedicated our work to the Supreme Lord, Bhagavan Sri Gopala Krishna; May the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna shower his blessings on us, both the writers of this book and its readers-cum –students.

CHAPTER: ONE. THANU-BHAVAHM.

The birth house (Janma-lagnam sthaanam = ASD) is called THANU-BHAVAHM; Here we give the effects various planets give in relation to this Bhaavam; we can get information about the person’s nature, his body, his soul, appearance, and such aspects from this Bhavam :

1. SOUMYA-SWAMI UPEKSHITHAM SUBHA-KARAM THATH-BHAVA SOUKHA-PRADAM SHASHTA, DVAADASA, RANDHRA-NAADHA, SAHITHAM KROORAISCHA NASHTA-PRADAM NEECHAEVARI PURANDHRA-RIPU-SSADANEA SHVA ASTHANGATHOVA YADA DORBALYAM VRUDHA, UTCHA, MITHRA GRUHA GOKHAETO BALA PRAAPNUYAATH. =

If a beneficial planet is in 1^st house, Janma-lagnam, or if the lord of first house has the aspect (dhrusthi) of a beneficial planet, or the lord of 1^st house is situated in the first house, the 1^st house gives very good results. If the lord of 6^th, or 8^th or 12^th house is situated in the 1^st house, if the 1^st house (lagnam) has the aspect (dhrusthi) of the above lords (planets), the 1^st house becomes weak and the results will not be good. If the lord of the 1^st house is in debilitation (neecha-sthaanam) or is in 6^th, 8^th, or 12^th house, or the lord of lagnam (birth house) is setting-down (asthangatha), then the lord (planet) is weak. If the lord of 1^st house in the houses of friendly planets, or is in exalted position, the planet is strong and is very beneficial.

Illustration: 1 This is the birth chart of Bhagavan Sri Ramachandra. He is worshipped as Supreme God by Hindus. He has Daivatva Yoga in his horoscope; this made him divine (Universal Benefactor). This yoga arises due to Kendras have exalted planets in them and konas have beneficial planets. Jupiter in exaltation and Moon in own house are in Lagna (both Kendra and Kona). Saturn is exalted in 4^th house (Kendra); Mars is exalted in 7^th house and has the beneficial 7^th drushti (aspect) of Moon and Jupiter; exalted Sun is in kendram (10^th hose). Beneficial Venus is in konam but in debilitation. 11^th house (Laabham) has beneficial Mercury in it.

Birth lagna is cancer. It has Guru (Jupiter) in exalted position. Moon, waxing and strong, is in his own house. Both are beneficial planets by nature and by position. Sri Rama is an embodiment of all noble qualities of head and heart as found in Ramayana by Maharishi Valmiki. He was Jagan Mohana (Mr. Universal handsome), strong and invincible.
