RAJA YOGAS IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY.

Maha-raja (King) yogas (8)

Part--145 (June—13-2009) Raja yogas which make persons born in ordinary families rulers equal to kings. Rule : Api khal-kula-jaatha manavaa rajya-bhajyhaha, kimuth nrupa-kulo-jaathaha, proktha bhoo-adhipa yogauha; nrupthi-kula samusthyaha parthivaaha vakshamaanau-bhavathi nrupathi thulyasthaeshva bhoopala puthraha = In the past seven parts, I sketched the planetary combinations that cause the birth of a king / ruler. Even a person born in a poor family can become a king; much more so for persons born in royal families. Now I describe some planetary combinations,which will make persons kings / queens / rulers who are born in royal families and others born in other ordinary families become rulers equal to kings, as propounded by great expert Astrologer Varahamihira (300-380 A.C.).

Nawab Hyder Ali (1717-82) was the king of Mysore; he was born in a poor family; his father was a small military commander. He rose to power and become the emperor of south India by 1765. He was very cruel and a despot and harassed millions of Hindus. His birth lagna was Libra. Its lord Venus was in 4^th house (Capricorn) and was aspected (3^rd drushti) by Saturn; Saturn was the lord of 4^th and 5^th houses. Hyder had no motherly love. The lord of 9^th house, Gemini (father;) was Mercury and was also the lord of 12^th house (Vyyaya). Mercury was in 6^th house (sathru) from Bhagya (9^th house). Moon was debilitated in Scorpio. But Moon’s association with Mars (forming Chandra-Mangala yoga) and Jupiter (forming Gaja-kesari yoga) removed the debilitation, causing a powerful Neecha-bhanga-raja-yoga. Example: 2

Moon was in his own house; Jupiter was exalted; forming Gaja-kesari yoga. Mars and Moon cojunction caused Chandra-Mangala yoga. Mercury was exalted in 10^th house (Kendra) formed Bhadra yoga. Saturn’s aspect (3^rd) on cancer was malefic. Sun was debilited but was conjunct with Venus (lord of Libra); so Sun’s debilitation was removed and caused a powerful Neecha-bhanga-raja-yoga. Mars was debilitated in cancer but was conjunct with Moon (lord of cancer); so Mars’ debilitation was removed and caused a powerful Neecha-bhanaga-raja yoga. All these beneficla aspects made the person the Prime Minster (Dewan) of three states. He held the most enviable ruling position in life.

Example: 3-- This is the horoscope of the King of Baroda, Maharaja Sayaji Rao III Gaekwar (1863-1911). He was by birth an ordinary peasant boy. He was adopted by the Queen of Baroda as her son. I explain the raja-yogas mainly.

Neecha-bhanga-raja-yoga : The Moon had a very powerful neecha-bhanga-raja-yoga. Moon was debilitated (neecha) in Scorpio; the lord of the house (Taurus) where Moon was exalted was Venus. Venus was exalted in Pisces in Kendra (4^th house) from birth lagna; this caused a very powerful raja-yoga. In addition, Mars, the lord of Scorpio (where Moon’s debilitation occurred) aspected Moon (7^th drushti). These raja-yogas made a very ordinary peasant boy by birth to become the mighty ruler of a huge kingdom of Baroda. Simhasana Raja-yoga : The birth lagna is Sagittarius. Its lord is Jupiter; he is in 10^th house (Virgo), (Rajya-sthana; Kendra; Sri Narayana sthana). Lagna-adheese’ soumye, bala-samyukthau, dasama sthana gathau,subha-graha veekshithe, sva, utcha, mithra keshethre Simhasana-yoga muchyathe; akhanda-raja-yoga prapthi na samasyaah. This powerful Maha-raja-yoga enabled him to be crowned as the King of the huge and powerful state of Baroda. It was the strange game of Fate; the Queen (mother) selected this ordinary peasant boy and crowned him as the King during 1875, when he was barely 12 years of age. This occurred during the end of Mercury dasa (sub-period of Saturn). Mercury was the lord of 10^th house (Rajya); he was in 3^rd house and was conjunct with Sun the lord of 9^th house (Bhagya; luck). This was highly beneficial. In the Nava amsa, Mercury was the lord of 10^th house and was in 2^nd house from lagna (Dhana-sthana) and in 11^th house (laabham) from Indu-lagna (Moon).

The peasant boy was adopted as her son by the Queen-mother as soon as the Saturn sub-period started in the main period of Mercury. Saturn ruled over the Parama-mithra star for the boy. Part--144 (June—12-2009) Cancer with birth lagna and Guru, Moon, Venus and Mercury in Taurus and Sun in Aries : learned king / king. Rule : Karkeeni-lagne thayae Jeeve, Chandra, Sukra, Budha sthithe labha-prapthaihi; Mesha gathe Arke, Vidya-aadi karma yukthaha, pruthvi-natham = If the birth lagna is cancer, with Jupiter exalted in it, and if the Moon, Venus and Mercury are in the 11^th house, Taurus and the Sun is in exalted in Aries (10^th house; raja-sthana), a mighty and very learned king (ruler) is born.

Part--143 (June—11-2009) Pisces lagna with strong waxing Moon, Saturn in Aquarius, Mars in Capricorn amd Sun in Leo : king / ruler.

Sloka : Meene sendau lagne, ghata-mruga, mrugandeshu, sahithair yamai rakairyo abhoothsya, khalu manujaha shaasitha vasudhaam ! Aje saaremoorthau shashi-gruha gathe, chamara Gurau, su-rejye vaa langne, dharanee-pathir- anyoapi su-gunavaan ! = The persom born in that planetary comination becomes a king and rule the earth, Case 1 :-- If Meena (Pisces) is birth-lagna, with Chandra (Moon) in it (lagna; Meena) and if Sani is in Kumbha (Aquarius; own house) and if Kuja (Mars) is exalted in Makra (Capricorn), and Ravi (Sun) is in his own house Simha (Le0).

Case : 2 If the birth lagna is Meena (Pisces) and Kuja (Mars) is in Meena and Guru (Jupiter) is exalted in Karkataka (Cancer).

Case : 3 : If the birth lagna is Karkataka and Jupiter (Guru) is in it in exaltation and if Mars (Kuja) is in Mesha (Aries), own house.

Example :-- 4 Jupiter was in exaltation in cancer, the birth lagna (both Kendra and kona; Sri Narayana sthana; Sri Lakshmi sthana). Bhagavan Sri Ramachandra had all the noble qualties and is ever worshipped as Purushothama. He enjoyed all the benefits of Hamsa yoga. He was highly learned in many arts and sciences and also in warefare. He was Emperor of emperors and sole monarch of the entire Universe as Supreme God and avathaar of Bhagavna Sri Maha Vishnu. Rahu was in 6^th house. This is called Kodanda Rahu yoga. Jupiter exalted in birth lagna (both Kendra and kona) amd Rahu in 6^th house causes most powerful Ashta Lakshmi yoga. Sri Ramachandra has enjoyed all the benefits of this yoga.

Cancer is birth-lagna and waxing Moon is in his own house conjunct with Jupiter (in exaltation). Venus is exalted in Pisces in the 9^th house (Bhagya; fortune and luck) and Sun is in 10^th house (Rajya) exalted in Mesha (Aries). Besides Mars and Saturn are exalted in kendras (Sri Naryana sthanas). So he was the ruler of the entire Universe and big kingdom. In all these examples, peculiar powers appear to characterize the angular positions (kendras=quadrants and konas=trines). These enable the person to become the king. Kings are of various descriptions; they have varied natures, and extent of their kingdom and their resources (income). These factors are detemined by the strenths of the planets causing the royal combinations. Maha-raja (King) Yogas (5) Part--142 (June—10--2009)

Jupiter & Moon conjunct in Sagittatius, Mars in Makara, Venus in Pisces : King/ruler.

Sloka : Haye sendrau Jeeve, mruga-mukha gathe bhoomi-thanaye, sva-thunagathau lagne bhrugu-ja, sasi-jaa vathra nrupathi = If Guru (Jupiter) is conjunct with Chandra (Moon) and is in Dhanasu (Sagittarius; own house of Jupiter) and Kuja (Mars) is in Makara (Capricorn; in exaltation) if Meena (Pisces) is birth-lagna with Sukra (Venus) (exalted) or if Virgo (Kanaya) is birth-lagna with Budha (Mercury) in it (exalted) the person becomes a ruler / king (Maha Raja). Example : 2 In these three examples I have not mentioned the other planets and an intelligent astrologer can easily fix the positions of other planets in their proper houses and can predict the Raja-yogas.

Sloka : Suthasthau Vakrorki; Guru, Sasi, Sukraapi hibuke; Budha Kanya, lagne bhavathihi, nrupo anyopic su-gunavaan ! = If Kuja (Mars) and Sukra (Venus) occupy the 5^th house, and Guru (Jupiter), Chandra (Moon) and Sukra (Venus) are conjunct in the 4^th house and if birh-lagna rises in Kanya (Virgo) with Budha (Mercury) (exalted) in Virgo, the person not only becomes a king but also possesses noble qualities. Sloka : The great saint-astrologer Maharshi Mandavya (3800 BC) said: Vrusha sendau lagne Savithur, Guru, theekshanasu nathaihi suhrth, jjaaya, khasthair, bhavathi niyamaan maanava-pathihi ! = Rule(1):-- If birth lagna is in Taurus (Vrushabha) with Moon (exalted) in it and the Sun is in 4^th house (Leo; his own house) and Jupiter(Guru) is in Vruschika (Scorpio) and Saturn (Sani) is in 10^th house (Kumba; Aquarius; own house), the person can become a ruler / king definitely.
