Maha-raja (King making) Yogas (1) June--5--2009
The great saint-astrologer Maharshi Mandavya (3800 BC) said (see his sloka = Sanskrit verse below) that if powerful birth lagna or Chandra is in Vargottama amsa and is aspected (drusti) by for or more planets (except Chandra), the combinations of planets produce mighty rulers (kings; present-day Presidents, Prime Ministers or Military dictators) = Vargottama-gathe lagne, Chandre vaa Chandra-varjithai Chatura adyai gruhai drushtae dva-vimsathihi smruthaha ; 22 such planetary combination are possible with birth-lagna and 22 are possible with Chandra (Indu-lagna). Vargottama is the 1st, 5th and 9th nava-amsas of movable, fixed and common signs (houses of zodiac).

Example :1 Birth-lagna, Mars, Moon and Venus are in Vargottama (these are in same houses both in Raasi and Nava amsa charts). In Nava amsa chart Jupiter (9th drushti), Saturn (7th drushti) aspect Amsa –lagna and Mars is in Amsa-lagna.
