Damage to Maha Raja Yogas
Part – 1 (Feb—08—2010)
Any Raja-yoga (beneficial disposition of planets), like Dharma-Karma adhipa sama-yoga; (the conjunction of lords of 9th and 10th houses), or Gaja-Kesari yoga can be enjoyed by the person, only when any one of these yoga-karaka dasas (beneficial periods) occurs in the prime of his / her life (say between 16 & 75 years), the person can enjoy the raja-yogam fully. If the yoga-karaka dasa (period) occurs in childhood (before 15 years or in old age after 75 years), the person can not enjoy fully the benefits of raja-yoga. Also the birth lagna and its lord must be strong. Also the planets involved in yogam must be well-disposed, strong and devoid of malefic effects like dagdha (combusted), neecha (debilitated) or in malefic houses like 3,6,8, and / or 12; they should not be conjunct with or (seen) aspected (drushti) by malefic planets. Then only the Raja-yogam can give beneficial results. Otherwise, the yoga is present but is spoiled and wasted. I noticed in my experience of 48 years as an astrology-practitioner, that in 98% of the horoscopes some four to nine different types of Raja-yogas are present; they are weak and / or ruined by other malefic effects. I pity such persons. Now I illustrate with examples how the Raja yogas though present are damaged in natal charts: Factors that cause Raja Yoga Bhanga (damage).
1) Debilitated Planets (Neechastha Graha kootami) :-
When planets are in their debilitation houses are considered to be weak. However, the astrologer should check for Neechabhanga Yogas, which offset debilitation.

Dharma-karma adhipa sama-yoga :- In this natal chart. the lord of 9th house, (Virgo) Mercury is conjunct with the lord of 10th house, (Libra) Venus in 10th house. But Sun is debilitated (neecha) and is conjunct with Venus and Mercury in 10th house. So the Raja yoga is damaged; its benefits are ruined.------------ (to be continued tomorrow).
