DHARMA-ESAE MAARKA-STHETHU, JAATHA BHAAGYAM NIRA ARTHAKAM,  MAARKO YADI DHARMASTHO RIPU DAARA GATHA SUBHAAHA.  =  If the lord of  9th house  is in death causing houses (2 or 7), the person will not get luck or benefits in his main and sub-periods;  If the death-causing planet stays in 6,7, or 8 house, the person gets benefits.

In this chart, Moon is the lord of 9th house (Cancer). He is in death-causing house (7th).  So the person will not get luck or benefits in his main and sub-periods of Moon.  Moon main period was over without harming because Moon was Punnami (full) and is exalted in Taurus.

In this chart, Mars (malefic by nature) is lord of 7th house (maaraka-sthanam).  He is in 8th house conjunct with malefic Rahu.
