7) Sun is the lord of Leo, 2nd house (vaak-sthaana adhipathi). He is exalted in 10th house (Karma sthana) from birth lagna. He is conjunct with two benefics Mercury (significator of intellect) and Venus (significator of poetic and original-writing skill). The 2nd house is aspected (5th drushti) by the most benefic and divine Jupiter. This made Sankara as the super-master of the strictest logic; yet he as so sweet tongued that he was able to convince thousands and thousands of his strong and staunch opponents by the sheer beauty of his speech and power of argument. Thousands of eminent Buddhist monks of his times took to Hinduism and joined him as his disciples. 8) The 4th house Libra is his Vidya-sthana (education and learning and proficiency). Venus is the lord of Libra (4th house, Vidya-sthana). He is in 10th house from lagna and aspects (7th drushti) the 4th house (Vidya-sthana); he is conjunct with exalted Sun and benefic Mercury.
The most benefic and divine Jupiter aspects (9th drushti) the 4th house. So the 4th house is rendered the most powerful and beneficial by the aspects (drushtis) of (i) Aatma-kaaraka (significator of Soul) Sun (7th drushti); (2) Vidya-kaaraka (signficator of education, intellect and skills) Mercury (7th drushti); (3) Kavya-kaaraka (significator of poetic and writer skills) Venus (7th drushti); (4) Jnana-kaarka (signficator of wisdom, knowledge) divine Jupiter (9th drushti) (5) the mighty and fiery Mars (8th drushti). All these five mighty influences combined together on his 4th house made Sankara a Sakala Sasthra Parangatha , a matchless super-master of all learning; he was a prodigy and unique in all aspects of learning. Such great achievements of Sankara are possible only under the most powerful subha / raja yogas. His capacious mind, substantial learning, proficiency in all sciences and profound knowledge of everything in this creation are clearly evident in every line of his scholarly writings.
