The exact year of his death is not known. He probably died during the main period of Rahu (lord of 7th house; maraca sthana), in the sub-period of Jupiter (positioned in 2nd house, maraka sthana) both from birth lagna and Moon. It was probably during his 85 year. Rahu was in the 7th house (maraca sthana; death-causing) both from the birth-lagna and the Moon. Saturn is the lord of both 7th and 8th houses; Rahu is expected to give the results of Saturn. In Nava-amsa chart, Saturn was in 8th house from lagna. The lord of sub-period was Jupiter and was in 2nd house (maraca sthana) in Rasi chart. Guru was in 8th house from Rahu and Rahu was in 6th house from Guru; this is known as shashta-ashtaka dosha (malefic in effect). In Nava-amsa chart, Rahu was in Taurus; so he was expected to give the results of Venus (the lord of Taurus). Venus was in 2nd house (maraca sthana) from Moon. Jupiter was in 2nd house (maraca sthana) from Moon. All these factors caused his death in that period, It was believed that Bhagavan Sri Sita Rama appeared before Sri Tyagayya, in response to his intense bhakthi and prayers. It was the holy day of Makara Sankranthi. He says in one of the most moving songs, "Unerringly I saw Sri Rama installed on the hill...Thrilled with ecstasy, with tears of joy, I tried to speak. He promised to bless me in five days." And so it happened. Sri Tyagayya asked Sri Sita Rama the boon of Jeevan-mukthi ! Bhagavan replied he would have his desire fulfilled in five days. On the 5th day, it was Pushya, Krishna Panchami holy day. Sri Tyagayya attained Jeeven-mukthi on that auspicious day at auspicious time in Uttara-ayanam (Jan—6—1853). On that day, at predicted holy time (muhurtham). Sri Tyagayya was seated under the tree on the bank of river Kaveri in Dyanam (meditation) of Bhagavan Sri Sita Rama. All his devotees, admirers and disciples were seated before him singing his songs of praise on Sri Sita Rama. Then a miracle happened; they all heard a naadam (mysterious sound), coming from the top of his head (Brahma sthana). They saw a bright halo of light emanating from his head and slowly flying up towards the Sun and vanishing in the atmosphere. His body was cremated there on the bank of river Kaveri and a Samadhi was erected in Tiruvayyaru. Even today many devotees and music lovers visit that Samadhi. (I also visited his Samadhi during Aug-2005 with my family and offered our prayers to Sri Tyagayya and Bhagavan Sita Rama). (to be continued tomorrow).
