Analysis of the Horoscope of Sri TYAGARAJA SWAMI

Part – 9 (Jan—13—2010) Wednesday

My explanation : Luckily, Telugu is my mother tongue; Sri Tyagayya composed many of his songs in Telugu. So I had the luck of enjoying the inner meanings in his divine songs. (1) Jupiter, Mercury and Venus – these three benefics are beneficially positioned in his horoscope. Jupiter is in 2n d house (house of speech; song), Mercury is in the 9th house (dharma-sthana) in Bhava chart; he aspects (7th house, Virgo) his own house. He is in 10th house in Rasi chart and aspects (7th drushti) the 4th house (Libra), the house of learning (Vidya sthana). These factors enabled Sri Tyagayya to become not only a great musician but also a bhaktha (devotee). His musical compositions are the best blends of devotion and melody. They cultivate the piety of the singer as well as the listeners. Example : “Jagadaanand karaka, Jaya Janaki prana nayaka…” = Oh Sri Rama! You bestow immortal joy (ecstasy) to all devotees; you are the dear husband to Sri Janaki…” 2) Both Sun and Jupiter are in 2nd house to this house He is a musical genius and a philosophical eminence. In Nava-amsa chart, Virgo is kaarama-amsa. Both Sun and Jupiter are in 2nd house to this house. 3) Mercury is in 9th house (dharma shtana) is Bhava chart indicates that the wonderful conceptions of that great musical genius entered his consciousness without any assistance of the intellectual faculty. The various elements of his song / musical composition appear to him before his inner vision. Example: “Ajnana thamasu anachu Bhaskaruni”. Sri Rama drives away ignorance in the minds of his devotees, like Sun drives away the darkness. 4) Sun is atma-kaaraka (significator of soul). Jupiter is in 2nd house (Leo) owned by Sun. This invested Sri Tyagayya’s musical compositions with a sense of exalted morality and sympathy for values that stand for good. They furnish an ideal guide to human conduct. “Ghana dur-mathulai, thaa munigithe Kaveri, Mandakini etu brochunu” = These lines mean, if a sinful person is engaged in vice and harmful deeds, even if he bathes in holy rivers like Kaveri and Mandakini, he is not purified and his sins are not washed away and he can not be rescued. This exemplifies that the moral conduct of the person alone leads him to the grace of God but not the outward practices like bathing in holy rivers on very holy occasions. 5) Venus : Venus is not only significator of emotion but also devotion. He is in his own house (11th house; laabha). So he has a powerful aspect (7th drushti) on the 5th house. This rendered his songs highly devotional. 6) Sun and Mercury are in 10th house (karma sthana); Sun is exalted. A powerful Budha-Aditya yoga is formed. Jupiter powerfully aspects (9th drushti) the 10th house and Sun and Mercury therein. This is very beneficial. This indicates he has a noble mission to fulfill in his life. He did fulfill it successfully. His melodious devotional songs appeal not only to the musical intellect but also devout mind, and to the layman and the learned critic too.
