Ancient Hindu Astrology was 10 thousand years old; it is based on sound principles of advanced mathematics and astronomy; the Predictive astrology gained popularity and is in wide use. The famous book *JATAKA CHANDRIKA* was written se thousands years ago by great sage-astrologer Maharshi Parasara. This book is also called “Laghu Parasarai”. Maharshi Parasara was the father of Maharshi Veda Vyasa; he was the original author of Sri Maha Bharatha epic, Sri Bhagavtha purana and the four Vedas. Veda Vyasa was the grand father of Padavas and Kauravas of Maha Bharatha epic. Jataka Chandrika describes some important rules of predictive astrology. I give hereunder each Sanskrit verse and give its English meaning; I illustrate each verse with a suitable horoscope.

SHONAADHARAM MAHATH KINCHI DVEENA DHARAM UPAASMAHEA.
The Mother-Goddess Bhagavathi Sri Saraswathi is the presiding deity of all learning, knowledge and wisdom (well established theories of all Arts and Sciences), embodiment of Brahma siddhanthams, and playing sweet celestial music on Veena (musical instrument). She is surrounded by celestial glow and glory. We prostrate before Her with utmost devotion.
2. PHALAANI NAKSHATHRA DASAA PRAKAARENA VIVRUNMAHEA,
VAYAM PAARASAREEM HORAA MANUSMRUTHYA YADHAMATHIHI.
We now explain the slokams written by ancient sage (Maharshi PARASARAA explaining Horaa phalams (predictions) ; these scientific methods based on NAKSHATHRA (stars), planets, life—periods (dassas) that come in the life span of a person, as explained by ancient sage-astrologer Maharshi Manindha.
3. BUDHAIRBHAVAADAYA SARVEJNEA YAASSAAMANYA SASTHRATAHA
EATHATHSAANUSAARENA SANJNAAM BHRUMO VISHESHATAHAA.
A person who wishes to master astrology (jyothisham) should learn from elderly scholars in a regular fashion bhavams , nakshatrams (stars), grahams (planets), lagnams ( the position of particular happening at particular time (like birth of a child) in the chart of planets (bhava-chakram) and many such scientific facts and fundamental concepts of the sciences of astronomy and astrology and the symbols, glossary of scientific terms and their full meanings. We now explain some such concepts here.
4. PASYANTHI SAPTHAMAA SARVEA SANI JEEVA KUJAH PUNAHA,
VISHESHATHASCHA THRIDASA THRIKONA CHATHURASRAGAAN. All the planets (beginning with the Sun) aspect the planets in the
7th House with a full sight-strength; but Saturn aspects those in the 3rd and 10th Houses with extra ordinary Drishti (aspect / sight); so does Jupiter aspect them in the 5th and the 9th houses, and Mars aspects the 4th and the 8th Houses with a full sight-strength (Druk-bala).--------to be continued tomorrow).
