RAJA YOGAS IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY.
Ravi Yoga Part—79 (Mar—19--2009)
Rule : Ravi yoga occurs in a horoscope if Sun stays in the 10th house and the lord of the 10th house stays in the 3rd house in conjunction with Saturn.
Benefits : — The person is respected by rulers (king). He is an expert in sciences. His fame starts after the 15th year. He is highly passionate. He likes simple food. He possesses beautiful and expressive and lotus-like eyes. He has well-developed chest. Explanation :— This rule has many exceptions. We know that Saturn is a malefic planet and his conjunction with any benefic in any favourable horoscope is not desirable. In this Yoga, the lord of the 10th house (Rajya; karma sthana) must occupy the third house in conjunction with Saturn. In the course of his Dasa, Saturn, in such a combination, would be capable of giving highly favourable results. Ravi Yoga ensures a type of relation between the Sun, Saturn, the 10th and 3rd houses. If we consider Aries (Mesha) or Taurus (Vrishabha) or Vrischika (Scorpio) as birth-lagna, Ravi Yoga cannot really exist.
For birth-lagna, Sagittarius (Dhanus), or Capricorn (Makara) or Leo (Simha) or Virgo(Kanya), Ravi Yoga is almost impossible because in these cases the lord of 10th house is either Mercury or Venus. When the Sun is in the 10th house, Mercury or Venus cannot be in the 3rd house from birth-lagna; this implies a distance of nearly 150 to 180 degrees from the Sun which is astronomically impossible for Mercury or Venus. In view of the above facts, we can see that Ravi Yoga occurs very rarely. Example—
Lagna Pisces | Aries | Saturn Jupiter | |
(12) | Bhaava | (5) | |
Mars Moon | | ||
Sun Mercury | (9) | Libra | Virgo |
In this chart the birth lagna is Pisces (Meena). The lord of 10th house (Sagittarius) is Jupiter. He is in 3rd house (Taurus) conjunct with Saturn. So this person has Ravi yoga.
